Udupi: Pelts of Black Buck, Barking Deer Seized, One Arrested

Udupi, May 29: The CID forest squad on Monday May 28 arrested a man possessing pelts of black bucks and barking deer.

The arrested is Ritesh (27), a native of Shimoga.

Another person, identified as Mahantesh, a poacher engaged in killing animals and selling their hides, is said to have sold the pelts to Ritesh for Rs 6 lac.

Acting on a tip-off, the forest squad officials tracked Ritesh and arrested him at Parkala near Manipal.

Mahantesh, who is also from Shimoga, is absconding.

The felts have been seized and case has been registered.
