Mumbai, Jun 4: Jayasrikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti ®, (JSKPPS) a metro-based NGO striving for the development of the undivided Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka, organized the celebration of the 83rd birthday of former union minister and Mangaloren George Fernandes at Nityanand auditorium, Sion (West) on Sunday June 3.
Maharashtra former chief minister Manohar Joshi was the chief guest on the occasion who commended the selfless sacrifices and political leadership of former union minister George Fernandes in uplifting the working class from miserable economic conditions in the metro.
‘George Fernandes Achiever’s Award’ was presented to social activist Jaya C Suvarna, education expert Dr K Sanjeev Shetty, Karnataka Rajyotsav Award recipient Tonse Vijay Kumar Shetty, Dharmapal U Devadiga, and Kutpady Ramachandra Ganiga for their significant contributions to society, LIC professional R K Shetty (received by his wife Anita on the former’s absence), Aikala Harish Shetty (received by Aikala Gunapal Shetty), Vincent Mathias (received by his son Vernon V Mathias), Suresh S Bhandary Kadandale and lawyer U Dhananjay Kumar, for achievement in their respective spheres during the programme.
JSKPPS vice-presidents lawyer B Mohiuddin Mundkoor, P K Salian, Balakrishna P Bhandary and Jagannath M Ganiga, honorary secretary P Dhananjay Shetty, joint secretaries Sanjeev Poojary Tonse, Harry R Sequeira and Suresh Shetty Yeyyady, former president Vishwanath U Mada, Billawar Association president Jaya C Suvarna, and Borivali MLA Gopal C Shetty were present on the dais.
JSKPPS honorary treasurer chartered accountant I R Shetty welcomed the gathering. Honorary chief secretary Nityanand D Kotian compered the programme. Honorary secretary Harish Kumar M Shetty proposed the vote of thanks.
