Mumbai, Jun 24 (IANS): Three days after a fire ravaged large parts of Mantralaya, the Indian national flag was hoisted atop the building here Sunday morning.
The flag was ceremoniously hoisted by a team of seven Power and Works Department employees whose job is to hoist and lower it daily as per the flag protocol.
"Today, it was hoisted at 6.05 a.m. and will now be lowered at sunset," the official said.
The flag, measuring 21x14 feet, weighs around 60 kg, said Flag Foundation of India chief V.K. Singh.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar plan to start working from Mantralaya from Monday.
The team which hoisted the flag Sunday was the same which had protected and saved the tricolour when Mantralaya caught fire June 21.
