Bollywood's Double Dhamakas

Mumbai, Jul 3: Double role characters seem to be making a comeback in bollywood these days, with many of the top-notch actors taking up such roles.

‘Bol Bachchan’ will be showcasing Abhishek Bachchan playing a dual life in the form of ‘Abbas and’Abhishek’ a Muslim and a Hindu character respectively.  Multiple roles play a great importance in the acting scope too. For example in the movie ‘Krish’ actor Hrithik Roshan plays the roles of the father and the son in different time zones. He may be seen playing dual lives in the movies sequel.

In the movie ‘Rowdy Rathore’, Akshay Kumar plays two characters. Two characters in an action film will definitely boost the box office sales. His characters in the film are opposites, one a thief and the other a policeman. But as the plot of the story thickens, both the characters seem to be an apt casting in the movie.

Veena Malik, known for being in the limelight has played a double role in her movie ‘Dal Mein Kuch Kala Hai’. She reports in an interview recently saying that in real life too she plays a double role being herself and Zaida Malik. Playing two different characters in a film did not seem too different in the movie according to her, although the B-grade movie has been unimpressive at the box office and everyone has neglected to watch it. But that does not stop Veena Malik from stating that her next venture [a triple role?] would be as a singer.

Actor Saif Ali Khan has been rumoured to playing a double role in the ‘Judwa’ movie sequel. The same follows with starlet Katrina Kaif  rumoured to be playing Hema Malini’s characters from ‘Seeta Aur Geeta’ .

Actors are definetly commended on their acting skils if they tend to portray two characters in one movie.

Double roles tend to land up in hilarious situations. It also is a very luring factor as the audience ends up imagining the climax of the plot.
