Mangalore, Jul 5: The Graduation Day of Kalaakul, Konkani’s only theater repertory was held at Kalaangann, recently.

Sandesha Foundation director Fr Victor Vijay Lobo was the guest of honour who distributed the certificates to eight artists—Roshni Goveas, Michal Crasta, Rivin Crasta, Melwyn Pais, Viran Veigas, Anil D’Souza, Jaya Prakash D’Souza, and Sunil Anthony Siddi—who have successfully completed their theater training in the 2011-12 batch.

Goveas was awarded with best actress of the year, where as Rivin Crasta was honoured for full attendance.

Konkani Prachar Sanchalan president Roy Castelino was the chief guest on the occasion, who welcomed the new batch of 2012-13 by giving them their uniforms. Ten artists have been selected for the new batch. They will be given training in theater, every evening from Monday to Friday and they will be paid a monthly stipend. Last year’s batch has produced four major plays and three small plays; they have presented 23 shows including ‘Kalaakulosthsav’ and two national theater festivals each in ‘Rangayana’, Mysore and Goa.

Kalaakul chief trainers Christopher D’Souza Neenasam and Mandd Sobhann Gurkar Eric Ozario, and president Stany Alvares were present on the dais. Kalaakul administrator and playwright Arun Raj Rodrigues compered the programme.
