Mangalore Aug 8: ‘Badlagudda Shanthi Nagara Nivasigala Okkuta’, Padil came together on Sunday August 5 to celebrate the traditional culture of Tulunadu 'Aatida Thammana' at the Kottari Bhavana Hall Padil.

Mouth-watering dishes were displayed on the occasion, and men and women dressed in traditional attires accorded warm welcome to the guests by offering Pelatha Garigai, boiled sweet potato and Pottu coffee. Rituals were conducted with much zeal and devotion.

The stage function began with welcoming the Corporator and honourable president of Okkuta ,Mohan Padil, Okkuta president Jayaraj Padil, former president Gopal Salian, vice president Herald Cutinha, lady vice president Roopa Salian, Secretary Raghuveer Gatti, and treasurer Krishna to the dais.

A number of competitions were organised on this occasion and prizes were distributed

Traditional song, drama and dance were accompanied by a feast prepared in traditional Tulu style. The traditional dishes from Tulunadu included 'Menthe Ganji', 'Gunda', 'Timare Chatni', 'Halasina Gatti', 'Patrode', 'Manjolertha Gatti', 'Gujja Iretha Gatti, 'Gendada Adde', ‘Girenga Podi', 'Mambla', around 35 variety of dishes was served to the guests at the end of the celebration.

The dishes were not only tasty but also healthy, with ingredients that are known to protect one from common illnesses in the monsoon.
