Mangalore: Project 'Green Planet' Concludes at Lourdes Central School

Mangalore, Aug 9: There were trees on our planet much before the animals and human beings appeared. Everyone knows that trees give us oxygen to breathe, yet we human beings are being absolutely thoughtless on cutting down trees. To save our planet from disaster, and to protect trees, Vanamohotsava is celebrated throughout the country.

In connection with the project ‘Green Planet’, LCS had organized flower arrangements colouring and drawing competition for the Kindergarten children.  The importance of trees was made known to them, through songs, skills and charts.

The grand finale of ‘Green planet’ was celebrated on August 1 at the LCS Auditorium. Dr Victor Machado,manager LCS presided over it. Children of KG1 and KG2 took active part in it and sang various action songs, to depict “Green planet”. Children of KG2 performed a skit on saving our environment. Sonia Lasrado spoke about the uses and importance of trees. Her message to all was “Nature is a gift of God”.

As token of love towards environment principal, Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves and Dr Victor Machado had exchanged flower plants. They spoke about the importance of trees and encouraged the children to plant more saplings for a greener planet. They delivered the message to the children that, the reason people have shade now is that someone had planted a tree long time ago

At the end prizes were distributed for the winners and it was followed by the school anthem.
