No Time for Films, says Shilpa Shetty

New Delhi, Sep 12 (IANS): Actress Shilpa Shetty, mother of three-month-old son Viaan, says she is enjoying motherhood and is not thinking about getting back to films right now.

"Right now, I am a full-time mother and completely enjoying it. I have no time for films. I am on a sabbatical for I don't know how long. Motherhood is such an amazing experience that everything else takes a back seat," said Shilpa.

Shilpa, who is married to businessman Raj Kundra, became a mother May 21. She was here Tuesday, at an event to promote skin-care line Olay. This was her first public appearance post-delivery.

Talking about the changes the baby has brought to her life, she said: "Life has changed from being a woman to a mother but it is beautiful."

But coming back to shape post-pregnancy brings a lot of stress for any lady, says the 37-year-old whose baby fat was evident in a loose white and black outfit.

"There are surely lot of insecurities about your weight, skin and the way you look post-pregnancy. But all this becomes a lot easy when you have good and right advice.

"There are pressures on every woman but being a celebrity when we are scrutinised every time for everything, the pressure surely increases. But I haven't started losing weight because it is not on my priority list right now. It is my baby and all that is important for him that tops the list," she said.

Weight loss is more time consuming compared to skin care.

"Losing weight and being in shape requires a lot of hard work, a lot of time, a balanced diet. But when it comes to skin care, it is far easier. I think less is more when it comes to skin. The lesser you do it, the better it looks. That has always been my mantra.

"We are in a time and age when people don't want to see something fake or too overly done up. If you have to look good, you should have good and healthy skin," said the actress, who turns to her mother when it comes to taking any beauty and health tips.

    Dear Jennet
Sure I do not have what Shilpa has. Nor do others who have commented here. These however were not 'barbed' remarks as you chose to put it. There's a 'life
span' for an actress and especially in Hindi Cinema. People just do not accept mothers'running round trees' and appearing coy. This was just put across in a humorous way. Being an 'Aunty' and 'Uncle' is a part of life and one must learn to accept it! Shilpa must take this in the right spirit. As far as showcasing her talent (which we all know she possesses)in other fields we will sure support her and root for her. Right? Hope the hurt by(supposed) curt comments have vanished by this explanation...

I read the comments on this and felt very bad. Just because an actress becomes a mother and in the bargain puts on weight it does not mean that she should be called aunty. Aunty is a term used only for relatives and is widely misused in India. I am working in Muscat, I am quite aged compared to some of my friends and colleagues and no one calls me aunty except little children upto 15 to 20 years age, rest all call me either by my first name or as Mrs. Dsouza. I fully agree with Shilpa when she says that she is enjoying her motherhood. This is a unique period when one enjoys the antics of her little baby. Once the child grows up and starts schooling there may not be much time for this enjoyment. Secondly, it is the private life of the star whether she choses to come back or enjoy her motherhood. Many foreign stars of international fame have come back as heroins even after their motherhood so why not the Indian Stars? Hold back your barbed remarks, it shows and emits jealousy on your part on something that you do not have and Shilpa has

I don't think people consider you that good an actress. Stay at home and look after your baby. That is the best role for you
