Mumbai, Nov 1 (IANS): Bollywood's 'serial kisser' Emraan Hashmi is heading to the West. He is set to feature in Oscar-winning director Danis Tanovic's next film, a collaboration of multiple production houses.
Among the banners supporting the project is India's Anurag Kashyap Films Pvt. Ltd.
"Emraan is a very good actor and we are excited to be working together. It will be very interesting to see the combination of an Indian star, who is so popular among the masses working with an Oscar-winning director in an international film. We are looking forward to a great collaboration," Guneet Monga of Anurag Kashyap Films Pvt. Ltd., told IANS.
Tanovic is known for "No Man's Land", best remembered as the movie that toppled "Lagaan: Once Upon A Time In India" for the best foreign language film at the Academy Awards in 2001.
"'No Man's Land' won the Oscar against 'Lagaan'. The same director found Emraan more promising than any other actor. At a point where so many actors claim to be in talks with Hollywood, the industry's underdog or dark horse got signed on," said Monga.
Emraan's role in the movie is yet unknown but, according to a source, "Tanovic is looking at doing some great work with Emraan, whom he looks upon as one of the most talented actors he has come across".
In Bollywood, the actor has made his mark through films like "Murder", "Gangster", "Jannat", "Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai", "The Dirty Picture" and "Shanghai".
