Mangalore: AIMIT Hosts 'Anveeksha 2012' National-level IT Fest

Mangalore, Nov 7: 'Anveeksha 2012', a national-level IT event organized by the postgraduate department of computer application and bioinformatics of St Aloysius Institute of Management & Information Technology (AIMIT), was inaugurated at the AIMIT college auditorium on Wednesday November 7.

Event coordinator Prof Mani Bushan D’Souza introduced the dignitaries.

Dr Aloysius Henry Sequeira, current member of the governing body, senate and the academic council, expert member of NBA, ACITE, ASRB and the former Registrar of NITK was the chief guest Fr Swebert D’Silva, Principal of St Aloysius College, presided over the function.

The program was inaugurated by the lighting of the lamp. Dr Sequeira stressed on, apart from education, the overall quality development of an individual from childhood through all the different phases of one’s life. He emphasized the importance of programs like Anveeksha and how we need to get the best out of these programs; translate innovation to entrepreneurship, and use social-networking for sharing of ideas, and the significance of continuous learning. Fr Swebert conveyed a message on how education should focus on its consequence and contribution toward the higher strata of social, national and international development and not only on its basic level of just accomplishing it as a task. Fr Denzil Lobo, director of AIMIT, underlined the importance of working on new ideas that change lives.

Leading up to the second part of the program, Dr Sequeira presented a topic focusing on Education, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The presentation was very well received and gave the program the precise color and pitch to show how closely these areas are related to each other.

Anveeksha has a participation of 25 colleges from all over India. It is organized as a one-day program and an occasion for presenting innovative ideas in technology and is categorized into five tracks of Advanced Computing, Databases, Networks, Web Technologies and Life Sciences.

The inaugural part of the program was concluded with the college anthem by the student choir. The student coordinator Chaithanya Karkera delivered the vote of thanks.
