Udupi: Building and Construction Workers' Association Stages Protest

Udupi, Dec 19: The members of building and construction workers association staged a protest seeking realization of various demands, here in front of DC office, Rajathadri on Wednesday December 19.

Prior to the protest, a rally was held from Tiger circle to the DC office.

Later a memorandum was submitted to welfare board of building and construction workers association by the labor officials.

Speaking on the occasion, P Vishwanath, CITU president placed various demands through the welfare board. The demands included scholarship, marriage assistance, maternity benefit to women, medical assistance, benefits during accidents, loan for house construction, monthly pension after retirement and various others.

He also alleged the welfare board for delay in work since last April. The applications which were sent later are still pending to be approved, he said and urged for their approval at the earliest and to release funds for those who applied.

Vittal Poojary, Dhogu Suvarna, member of BKS among others were present.
