Mangalore: Lourdite Family Celebrates Christmas with Festive Spirit

Media Release

Mangalore, Dec 22: The Lourdite family celebrated Christmas with a festive spirit in the school grounds, on Saturday December 22. The choir of LCS trained by Lynette Pereira and Joel Pereira sang the ‘Gloria’ melodiously.

Various competitions like decorating the Christmas Tree, Christmas characters, collage and card making, live crib and so on were held as part of Christmas celebrations for classes 1 to 5 and the winners were felicitated by the principal Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves.

Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves, principal warmly welcomed the gathering with pearls of advice. "Jesus gave himself to you and me. He is the unspeakable gift. Immanuel - God with us. This teaches us a spirit of Christmas which means being present. The greatest gift we can give to people whom we love is our presence, our time, our positive energy. These are far superior to the material gifts we share with one another at Christmas time", he said.

Volunteers of annual day were given tokens of gratitude. Prashamsa Bhandary and Roshini Shetty were honoured for reaching the quarter finals in the national badminton tournament conducted by CBSE.

Students of classes 1 to 5 brought out the real message of Christmas that is reconciliation between God and man with their carol singing and live crib. They were guided by Joel Pereira, Lynette Pereira, Francisca and Premalatha.

The skit ‘Fourth Wise Man’ was enacted by students of classes 11 and 12 with guidance from Anitha Thomas, Sharmila Colaco and Violet D’Souza. The message that ‘What so ever you do to the least of my brothers that you do unto me’ was meaningfully conveyed.

Dr Victor Machado, manager LCS delivered a brief message. “We are not able to reach God, so God reaches out to us. We need to go out of our way to help people in need”, he said.

Students of classes 8, 9 and 10 performed lively Christmas Dances under the supervision of Vidya Joseph, Shaila Mascarenhas and Ivan Mascarenhas.

Advika of class 1B with guidance from Tresa Monteiro delivered the vote of thanks.

It was a treat to see the KG students present the Christmas medley. They were trained by the KG staff. The Lourdite family welcomed Santa Claus and the little Elves who created a happy and pleasant atmosphere by dancing to the famous song Jingle bells.  Santa Claus said that Christmas is not just a season but a feeling. Later he visited all the classes. Roger Pereira of class 12 did full justice to his role as Santa Claus.

The MCs of the programme were Priyanaka, Masha and Princton of class x.

The festivities concluded with the celebration of a class party along with class teachers and co-class teachers.
