Kundapur, Dec 28: “You can expect a change in society only through education, when children are taught human values and moral thoughts when they are small; only then there will not be any crime. The human psyche can be changed only by teachers through moral education”, said K Jayaprakash Hegde, MP of Udupi Chikmagalore constituency while inaugurating the Education Conference and moral education workshop organized by Udupi district and Karnataka State Primary School Teachers’ organization, Kundapur zone, at R N Shetty convention hall on December 27.

He also added that those who compete in the teachers’ constituency should have come from the field of teaching. “Even about the voting rights of primary teachers, I will try to amend the private regulation in the Lok sabha. I will try my best to provide voting rights to primary school teachers. I will also discuss about the responsibilities imposed on teachers regarding mid-day meal and census in the Parliament."

" Even though there are opinion differences in the teachers’ organization, all should join for the development of students. Undivided Dakshina Kannada has achieved a lot in the field of education. Both the districts are leading in the field of education”, he added.

President of Anivasi Bharathiya Organization Captain Ganesh Karnik said, “Only through education can a person be changed. Changes can be acted upon only if the four lac teachers of Karnataka work together for development. Presently, the state government spends Rupees 15.71 thousand crore on education. Today, the quality of education has lowered due to the imposition of more burden to teachers and we find parents admitting their children to private schools. The environment plays a vital role in the behaviour of a child. A student should receive a good environment during its childhood.”

“Presently, we see many dilemmas in the national education syllabus. This change creates turmoil. Children will cope with change only through proper workshops and seminar”, he added.

K Lakshminarayana, MLA of Byndoor presided over the occasion. Kundapur town Municipal president Mohandas Shenoy, public education department assistant director Nagendra Madyasta, Kundapur area educational officer Gopala Shetty, Byndoor area educational officer Chandrashekar, area coordinating officer Shobha, KSRST state women convener Ramadevi, KSRST state vice president Arooru Thimappa Shetty, area educational directorate education officer Ashok Kamath, Akshara Dasoha director Sitharam Shetty, aided school teachers president Balachandra Shetty and public education department retired assistant director BV Mahidas were present on this special occasion.
