Puttur: Driver dozes off, dies in accident

Puttur, Feb 11: A Tata Indica car veered away from the road and hit a tree located some distance from the road, causing the death of its driver, in an accident that occurred on Sunday February 10 morning at Udane in Shiradi, on national highway 75. The deceased is Lokesh (24) from Haravalli in Remanagara district near Bangalore. It is suspected that the driver would have dozed while driving the car. Six persons were injured.

Chandrakala (28), Shobha (29), Raghu (22), Mahalaxmi (6), Anita (15), and Manjula (30), who were travelling in the car, suffered injuries. All of them belong to a single family, and had booked the above car from Bangalore for visiting Dharmasthala.  Manjula and Chandrakala have suffered fractures.

The injured were shifted to a hospital here, where they are recovering.
