Lausanne (Switzerland), Feb 14 (IANS): The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced that Buenos Aires of Argentina, Glasgow of Britain and Colombia's Medellin have been shortlisted in the bid for the third Summer Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in 2018.
The three cities were chosen by the IOC executive board Wednesday from among five candidate cities, including Guadalajara of Mexico and the Dutch city of Rotterdam, reports Xinhua.
The IOC board determined the composition of the shortlist at its meeting after it reviewed a report by the IOC Working Group. The report was based on the candidature files and relevant documentation submitted by the five candidate cities, said the IOC.
It said that an Evaluation Commission will conduct further assessments and hold video conferences with representatives from the three shortlisted candidate cities before submitting a report to the IOC members in June.
The IOC members will then elect the host city at an extraordinary session here July 4.
The second edition of summer YOG will be held in Nanjing, China, in 2014.
