Kundapur: Talents day celebrated by Catholic Sabha

Kundapur, Feb 19:  At the joint auspicious occassion of Catholic Sabha – Kundapur deanery and Shavuot Pratistan – Kundapur, the felicitation of talented students ,athletes and sportsmen was held here during the talents day on Sunday February 17.

Kundapur deanery Catholic Sabha president Precilla Menezes presided over the programme here on Sunday evening. Kundapur deanery vicar general Fr Anil D’Souza felicitated Koteshwar gram panchayat vice president Ophilia D’Souza and Lydia D’Almeida during the programme.

 

Precilla Menezes also felicitated Olympian gold winner Sunita Lobo, a student of Manasa Special School, Pamboor and international volleyball player Anuf D’Costa at the same occasion.

Walter Fernandes was honoured for the Amcho Sandesh – Mangalore diocesan bulletin of Catholic Sabha. Alvas Engineering College principal Peter Fernandes felicitated the government employees serving in gram panchayats and municipalities at the same occasion.  He also urged the parents to educate their children rather than amassing in wealth.

Catholic Sabha Udupi deanery president William Machado distributed the prizes to winners of elocution contest. Dr Johnson D’Lima felicitated talented students of Kundapur deanery and said that he was privileged to honour them. Udupi district minority Committee branch manager Shridhar Bhandary offered information on state facilities meant for Christian community.

A Bible-based skit competition was held ahead of stage programme.  Kundapur unit bagged the first prize, Gangolli unit bagged the second prize and Trasi unit bagged the third prize.

TP member Roshni Olivera distributed the prizes to the winners of the skit competitions.  She also urged saying, " women must contest in the forthcoming civic polls, since they are privileged to get 50 percent reservation".

Vinod Crasto welcomed the gathering.  Flyvan D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks.  Alwyn Quadros, Rupas Baretto and Renita D’Souza compered the programme.
