Udupi: Wayward car mows down young girl, injures sister
Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi
Udupi, Feb 25: A girl was killed on the spot as a wayward Alto car plying from Mumbai to Kumble in Kerala rammed into her, while she was waiting for a bus along with her family.
The deceased has identified as Sadima Sadaf (13). The incident took place at around 1.30 pm near Thenka board school on Sunday February 24. They were waiting for a bus to attend a function in Uchila.
Sadima and Sayima
He sister Sayima Parveen (12) was injured critically and is admitted to a hospital in Mangalore.
The driver of the Alto was driving rashly and at a high speed, sources said. The impact of the accident was such that the two sisters were thrown away. Sadima was rushed to a hospital in Padubidri, where doctors pronounced her brought dead.
Sources said that the car stopped 200 metres away from the accident spot on the right side of the National Highway.
It is said that the locals gathered at the spot soon after the accident and thrashed the driver, before handing him over to the police.
Padubidri police have registered a case.
Among the three children of Moulavi Mohammed Shaukat, the elder son is pursuing his PU studies. The elder daughter Sadima was studying in Class 9 at Saraswati Mandir School while the injured Sayima is studying in class 7 at Zilla Panchayat Model school.
Sources said that the two girls were brilliant in studies and never missed school.
The single-lane road at Tenka reportedly claimed six lives in two separate accidents earlier. Hence, permission was granted to widen it to two lanes.
At the accident spot in Tenka, unauthorized trucks are parked on the either side for about 300 metres from Tenka board school to Nimrah mosque. Also, as it is a newly constructed two-lane road with no proper sign boards installed yet, drivers get confused while taking diversion.
After the recent highway bandh, the officials promised that the highway works would be started within 10 days, but it has turned out to be an empty promise.

Mon, Feb 25 2013VERY SAD, MAY HER SOUL REST IN PEACE.
THIS IS THE CASE OF RECKLESS DRIVING. According to the locals, the car driver Mohideen is said to have consumed liquor and ganja and was in a intoxicated state. SO NO NEED TO BLAME THE ADMINISTRATION. HE SHOULD PUNISHED IN A HIGH PUNISHMENT.

Mon, Feb 25 2013Sad news, may her soul R.I.P.
The police should take immediate action on all rash drivers. They should install a speed crossing siren machine which makes high sound when it crosses the limit. Such driver's licence must be cancelled. Now the driver has to pay the blood money for killing the girl Rs.10,00,000/- (Ten Lacks) and look & take care of all expenses of the girl in hospital till she recovers. Police should monitor all these cases. Volunteers from Congress and BJP should up hold the case.

Mon, Feb 25 2013No proper road signs is a biggest disease in India. Lack of safety standards and neglecting to put proper signs at road construction is a big mistake and this takes away innocent lives. Reckless drivers add more to it!!! Strict punishment to careless drivers may reduce tragedy.

Mon, Feb 25 2013Reckless and negligent driving has caused the death of this innocent girl and left her sister struggling for life. No motorist has the right to claim any humanbeing's life. if only they use little sense while driving and think about the general public such accidents can be easily averted. These motorists know how easily they can come out of any severe accidents with the help of police.

Mon, Feb 25 2013It is very very sad news. A young girl has died and another one is fighting for her life, just because of some ones fault. When we all will learn to respect the traffic rules and drive safely. I wish this driver would have thought of his loved ones at home before driving recklessly. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. May the departed soul rest in peace.
