Beltangady: Get rid of middlemen in govt services - Dr Heggade

Beltangady, Mar 20: “In the contemporary time, government offices are filled with middlemen resulting in the unhealthy trend of middlemen ship. It’s a pitiable condition that citizens have to fight for their rights which is rightfully entitled to them,” said Dr D Veerendra Heggade, president, SDM Educational Society.

He was speaking on the occasion of the three-day national level workshop on ‘Development in Rights Language’ organized by the department of development studies of Kannada University, Hampi, Vidyaranya in association with Dr Ha Ma Na Research Center and department of economics, SDM College in S D M College, Ujire.

Inaugurating the workshop, he added “Social organizations have to spring up more to create awareness amongst the public about their rights. Development can be possible if we are aware of our rights and the exercising of it. Any attempt to deprive us of our rights should be opposed.”

Professor Ravivarma Kumar, social thinker and senior advocate at Supreme Court gave the key note address.

Professor Devanoor Mahadeva, writer and renowned thinker was the chief guest of the event while Dr H C Boralingaiah, vice chancellor, Kannada University, Hampi presided over the programme.

Professor S Prabhakar, vice president, SDM Educational Institutions, Dr B Yashovarma, principal, SDM College, Dr H D Prashanth, coordinator of the workshop, Dr A Jayakumar Shetty, associate professor and local coordinator of the workshop were present during the occasion.

Dr Prashanth welcomed the guests and the gathering. Dr A Jayakumar Shetty proposed the vote of thanks.

The workshop will conclude on March 21 with valedictory programme starting from 2 pm.
