Mangalore: Entrepreneurial development prog held at AIMIT

Mangalore, Mar 21: The MBA department of AIMIT (St Aloysius Institute of Management and Information Technology), St Aloysius College (Autonomous) organized a one-day entrepreneurship development program on Wednesday March 20 at 9.30 am for senior MBA students.

Dr Manohar Pai, professor and associate director (IC), MIT, Manipal gave the keynote address; the premise of his address was focused on importance of entrepreneurship and discussed the opportunities, challenges and prospects of entrepreneurship in India.

The second session was presided by Socrates, deputy director, presently heading Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises Development Institute, Ministry of MSME, Govt of India, Mangalore. He described the elements involved in social entrepreneurship. He highlighted the process of social entrepreneurship, characteristics of a social entrepreneur and the major difference between the social entrepreneur and an entrepreneur.

The afternoon session was taken over by Kanara Entrepreneurs Global. Ivan Fernandes and Claudius Pereira shared their practical experiences. They discussed the ups and downs that they faced in their journey of life as entrepreneurs.

Fr Denzil Lobo SJ, the director, AIMIT addressed the gathering. He focused on some of the great people who had overcome some of the biggest challenges in their life. He also urged the students to be passionate in whatever they do and be an entrepreneur.

The sessions were compered by Dionne Almeida, Meghana Bopaiah, Sneha Prasad and Clinton Jude Mascarenhas.
