Tannishtha Chatterjee turns singer with 'Gulab Gang'

Mumbai, May 13 (IANS): Actress Tannishtha Chatterjee, who will be sharing the screen space with Bollywood's dancing diva Madhuri Dixit in "Gulab Gang", says she has given a playback in the film too.

"I recently wrapped up shooting for my film 'Gulab Gang'. We had a wonderful time shooting for the film and not many know that I have also sung a song in the film," Tannishtha told IANS.

"It's a song which is picturized very well. I am a trained singer and beyond this I am not allowed to talk too much about the song," she added.

The actress says it's a women-centric film and a perfect way to celebrate 100 years of Indian cinema.

"I fell in love with the script when I heard it. Shomik is a visionary director. It's a fabulous film and was great being part of it. There are so many women coming together in this film it's a complete women's film and I feel it's a perfect way to celebrate 100 years of Indian cinema," she said.

Tannishtha also says that though she will share screen space with Madhuri, her character in the film didn't allow her to shake her leg with the diva.

"Madhuri is the number one dancer, she is the best. I am sharing the screen space with her and it was a pleasure working with her. I am not dancing in the film as my character doesn't allow me to do so," she said.

Directed by Soumik Sen, the film is based on a true incident and a gang called "Gulabi Gang". The film also features Juhi Chawla amongst others.
