Miguel Bose free concert draws 100,000 in Mexico City

Mexico City, May 14 (IANS/EFE): About 100,000 people attended a free concert offered by Spanish singer Miguel Bose on the weekend in the Zocalo, Mexico City's mammoth main square.

The artist began a series of concerts in Mexico May 1 as part of his "Papitwo" tour, which will take him to several Latin American countries and to the US.

He kicked off the concert with his number "Mirarte" at 8 p.m. Sunday and for the next 2 1/2 hours he moved about onstage performing both old and new songs from his repertoire, including the popular "Bandido".

Accompanied by his band, dancers and backup singers, Bose performed one of his biggest hits - "Aire Soy" - together with Mexican vocalist Ximena Sariñana.

Big screens had been installed both in the central part of the Zocalo as well as along the street surrounding the plaza so that those attending the event - including many whole families - could easily follow the show.
