When Vijay Verma danced like a fool

Mumbai, May 17 (IANS): It was an "exhuberating" moment for actor Vijay Verma when he came to know that his film "Monsoon Shootout" has been selected for the 66th Cannes International Film Festival.

"Monsoon Shootout" will compete for the best debut feature award at the ongoing fest, which started May 15.

"Two of my friends were with me at that time (when I came to know that 'Monsoon Shootout' is going to Cannes). They searched on the system (computer) and said, 'Your film is going to Cannes.' And I said, 'Has it been sent or selected?' and they said, 'No, it has been selected'," Vijay said here in an interview.

"I just stood up and started dancing like a fool. My first response was very exhuberating and juvenile. After that, at night I ran to Amit's house," he added.

Written and directed and by Amit Kumar, "Monsoon Shootout", set against the monsoon-lashed gritty urban landscape of Mumbai, is an existential thriller that explores the impact of our choices on the lives of others and us.

Co-produced by Anurag Kashyap, "Monsoon Shootout" also features Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Omkar Das Manikpuri, among others.
