Manmohan is neither leader of party nor country: BJP

New Delhi, May 22 (IANS): As the UPA got down to celebrating its fourth anniversary, the BJP Wednesday trained its guns on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and said he was neither leader of his party nor the country.

"For a coalition government, there is a need for a special leadership. I regret to say that in UPA Manmohan Singh is the prime minister but not leader. He is neither leader of his party nor the country," BJP leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj told the media here.

She said the UPA leadership was divided. "In the cabinet, UPA allies sit with the prime minister but for any solution to their problems they look towards the UPA chairperson (Sonia Gandhi)."

There now seemed to be one-upmanship between the Congress party and the government as well, she added.

"This divided leadership is leading to uncertainty in the country. This is political failure," she said.

Discussing the economic failures of the United Progressive Alliance government, Sushma Swaraj said: "When the NDA had come to power, we had inherited a crumbling economy. But when we left the government, we gave them a booming economy."

The BJP leader said the UPA-II had crossed all limits as far as corruption was concerned. "There was not so much corruption in UPA-I. One scandal leads to the other. The amounts are mind-boggling."

Her colleague Arun Jaitley, leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha, said the UPA's fourth anniversary was being celebrated in a negative and pessimistic environment.

"The propaganda is not being accepted by the country. All opinion polls point to the fact that the Congress and UPA are losing their popularity fast.

"Never in history has the prime minister's post been so dimunitive."

With the elections only months away, the UPA-II government will present a final report card to mark its fourth anniversary.

The 'Report to The People 2013', which will be released by the prime minister, is expected to try blunt the opposition attack with statistics.

The BJP's only agenda in life is to pull down the UPA govt, and criticise the PM and Sonia. They are sooo jealous of the Gandhi family and the Congress party that they can only spend all their energy on them instead of doing good for the country. They dont focus on how they can improve their party but only ONLY find fault and point fingers.

Even after so many scams people are not talking BJP as a replacement. That shows how seriously BJP is being taken by the people. No opposition to UPA and that is the achievement of MMS.
It is not the media that analyses the government but the people decide by the silent work done by the government. For BJP the end of opposition party tag will not come for atleast 10 more years.

RTE and RTI . MNREGA - one of the best projects to empower and provide 100 days employment to rural India. Food security bill a program whihc will eliminate hunger and poverty in this country.UID(Aadhar) will ensure we have a proper identity and many govt benefits will be linked directly to the card. SSA - as scheme which provides free education to all girls in the country and mid day meal scheme. Nirman India scheme buidling 10000 toilets in every school for better sanitation facilities. 7 new IIM's and 7 New IIT's and few more planned.GDP growth of 6% plus for the last 9 years when world every economy has a problem.JNURM which has built many bus stations and launched many services in the the urban areas and many more are there .Offcourse there is room for improvement but given the coalition politics this is the best UPA can do. Hopefully we will get a sweeping majority next time to ensure that we pass key bills without any issues.

Coalition govt needs special leadership and MMS does not have those qualities! Sushma Mami yeh kaisa kidding hai? A person who has managed coalition efficiently for 9 years needs to have a lesson from a leader of the party who could not do it for 5 years? And look what happened with your 'pet' govt in Karnataka which had majority. Yet they had 3 CMs in 5 years! What a leadership! If UPA had not given absolute weapon called RTI no one would have today come to know about all these scams and scandals which are hitting headlines. Knowing well what would be the reverse effects of such a Right, UPA went ahead it. It shows the guts of the PM and his coalition. For years all your leadership and guts were limited to Reddy family of Bellary. Weren't you their chief mentor and patron all these years? Are you talking about an 'efficient' leader who will divide the country or an unassuming leader who keeps the country and countrymen united even amidst turbulent times of governance and economics? Last nine years have such a drastic effect on world economy and almost all the countries have fared badly on economic front. Yet India's performance in these times is much better than others keeping in mind our populace, GDP, resources, natural calamities etc. Take a deep breath Sushma Mami...your walk to the throne is not as easy as it seems...wait for a year...you may create a record for being opposition leader for 15 consecutive years!

BJP always has proved BAD LOSERS.
They always criticize & lament the present while not helping the Democratic Institutions to function normally disrupting the Lok Sabha & Rajya Sabha, after pocketing all the allowances due to them.
Who suffers the common people who need all progressive legislations to uplift him.
Sushma stop your high decible lies & co-operate for next 1 year, then come to us begging to give your party a chance instead of throwing spanner in the Wheel of Progress.

The situation is created by Sushma Swaraj herself by protesting that she will shave her head if Sonia become the PM.The PM is a highly educated and experienced economist of India. Whatever the UPA did the BJP cannot do it. The BJP is only fir to sit in opposition for life. The UPA implemented every proposal of BP that the NDA wanted to pass and failed due internal issues.
It is baseless to say that the PM is silent. He is a good listener and never fight in the parliament but does his duties as PM.

At least Mrs Swaraj-He's been our PM for 9 long years, whatever said and done. Can you or your party leaders boast something like that? Personally what are your achievements? Can you too for once, win an election from your native? Think ponder... and for God's sake clean your house first before pointing to others and blaming them for corruption....Like your Government here in Karnatka, the UPA -2 may fall because of it's follies and not because of your good doings...
