Mangalore, Jan 3: A sudden fire that broke out in the plains of Tannirbavi area on Monday January 2 morning caused panic to residents, until the fire brigade rushed in and averted further damage by extinguishing the fire immediately.

It is suspected that some miscreants ignited sparks in the area which soon turned into huge flames of fire and spread to dry bushes and grass in the area.  Since weather was bright and sunny, fire spread immediately.  But the localis who came to know about it, immediately alerted the fire brigade.  Fire brigade in turn got into action almost immediately.

This averted further damaged since Indian Oil Company, NMPT, KIOCL companies are situated in the same area.  Any delay could have been disastrous.  Even the fire brigade vehicles of MCF, KIOCL too assisted in bringing the fire under control.

However, some trees and bushes that were in the area have been burnt in the fire.  The locals said that fire did not emanate in one single place but various spots were set on fire.
