Disha finds comedy most challenging

Chennai, Jun 22 (IANS): Southern actress Disha, who was recently signed to feature in upcoming Kannada comedy "Jayalalitha", says even though she enjoys films of the genre, she finds them most challenging.

"Jayalalitha" is the remake of Malayalam blockbuster "Mayamohini".

"I love watching comedy films and even enjoy working in them, but I think to make people cry is easy, and to make them laugh is extremely challenging. There are so many things that go in to bring out comedy," Disha told IANS.

For comedy, it's very important to understand the language, feels Disha.

"If I can't understand the language, then how can I know my co-star's lines in a comedy sequence? Generally, I only learn my lines, but with the help of others on a set, I understand lines in a new language and perform," she added.

Disha, who is making her Kannada debut with "Jayalalitha", has featured in Tamil and Telugu films such as "Tamizh Padam" and "Race", respectively.

"It's always exciting to venture into a new industry where I get to learn a bit of the language and its culture," said Disha, who has featured in Hindi films such as "Bolo Raam" and "Saare Jahaan Se Mehnga".

She is paired opposite Sharan in "Jayalalitha", which went on floors recently. It is being directed by P. Kumar.

Meanwhile, Disha's upcoming Tamil-Telugu bilingual "Manadhil Maayam Seidhai" is nearing completion.
