Matthew Perry got addicted to pain killer

Los Angeles, Jul 7 (IANS): Matthew Perry says he got addicted to vicodin (a pain killer) after a Jet Ski accident in 1997 and says the drug made him feel better than he has ever felt in his life.

Perry, who had two failed stints in rehab before getting clean, admits he already had a problem with alcohol at the time but when his doctor told him: "'Here, take this (vicodin)', I did, and I felt better than I ever felt in my entire life."

"I had a big problem with pills and alcohol, and I couldn't stop," People magazine quoted the 43-year-old as saying.

Perry, seen in the hit sitcom "Friends", is now "in a really good place" and hopes to settle down and have children in the near future. He also admits acting is no longer as important to him as it used to be and he is instead focusing on having fun and enjoying life.

In fact, now he is an entirely different man.

"I'm in a really good place. I'm really comfortable," said the actor.
