I didn't barge into Aditya Chopra's office: Vaani Kapoor

Mumbai, Aug 2 (IANS): Vaani Kapoor, who makes her debut with Yash Raj films' (YRF) "Shuddh Desi Romance", refutes reports that she had barged into producer Aditya Chopra's office and asked for a role.

"I read somewhere that I went to the Yash Raj Studio, barged into his office with my portfolio and threw it down and said, 'So, what do you think of a three-movie contract'. That didn't happen," Vaani said here Thursday at the launch of the song 'Gulabi' from "Shuddh Desi Romance".

There were even reports that Aditya spotted Vaani at a party, but the newcomer denied this as well.

"I wish that had happened. It would have made my life a lot easier, but unfortunately it did not happen. I had to go through a grilling process to meet Mr. Aditya Chopra. It took a lot of time and auditioning," she said.

"I was modelling and I wasn't really trying. I always wanted to do this, but I was never making an effort to go and give auditions at production houses. I never really tried, I guess I am very blessed that I met the right person, Shanoo (YRF casting director), at the right time and got this movie," Vaani said.

"Shuddh Desi Romance" revolves around three characters based in Jaipur and talks about conflicts between love and commitment.

The film also stars Sushant Singh Rajput and Parineeti Chopra. It is set to come out Sep 6.
