Mangalore, Aug 3: “As there are many corporate companies and industries in every legislative constituency, they have opportunity to use 3 percent of their profit for social service activities. But in the present scenario, people are not benefitting from them,” said MLA Mohiuddin Bava.
Addressing the media persons at press club on Saturday August 3, Bava said that a proposal is made to the chief minister to set up a committee in every constituency which will be headed by MLA, so that beneficiaries in the area will be identified and support will be provided to them.
Briefing further, he said a proposal is also made to retain Kudremukh Company at the present place as it one of the prominent company in the area. A request is also made to make use of the water collected at Lakya dam and to supply it to Mangalore City Corporation and other rural areas, he added.
Bava also demanded the following: to immediately start the 400 metre extension runways works at Bajpe international airport, to build an equipped Hajj Ghar for pilgrims at the airport, to include Kannada language in eighth schedule.
Kulai fisheries port project is being launched, and in this regard a request has been made to minister Oscar Fernandes and work will begin soon, he said.
He lauded chief minister’s plans of setting up a sub regional transport office at Suratkal and added that work will begin soon.
Regarding cattle theft in Suratkal, he said that such thefts have not only been reported from Suratkal, but also from Mulky and Jokatte surroundings. I have called upon the commissioner, ACP and inspectors to look into the issue, he said.
“The police department has been advised to form a special team to curb and investigate such illicit activities in the surroundings and not to bend on any pressure. I have been elected as MLA, not just by the minority community, but also the majority community. Hence they have huge expectations from me and I will surely live upto their expectations,” he said.
“Some miscreants in this region have been trying to break communal harmony, especially as the feasts are approaching. The police department has been informed to be strict and alert, especially during night patrolling in these areas. I have personally visited few houses from where the cattle were stolen and handed over some compensation. I think that there is no government scheme that could help them, but I will get it to the notice of the state government,” he added.
