Kasargod, Aug 5: With the experts confirming that no leakage of gas is detected from the gas containers that washed ashore at Kadappura shores near Uppala here,  people of the surrounding areas have finally heaved a sigh of relief.

The gas containers had washed ashore in the last week of July and some locals had pressed the panic button after reportedly seeing gas leakage from one of these containers on August 2. Hence the police, fire personnel and experts had been rushed to the spot immediately by the district administration.

A special team of experts from Ernaculam had been summoned to look into the reported gas leakage and the team has now submitted the report to the DC. The report has clearly mentioned that these containers are already empty and there is no fear of gas leakage.

It could be recalled that gas containers, reported to be the part of a ship that sunk off Yemen coast a few days ago, had washed ashore at Kottikulam, Mogral near Puttur etc a few days ago. he ship 'Mol Comfort', sailing from Singapore to Europe, had sunk, broken into pieces and caught fire. There were 26 sailors from various countries aboard, and all of them were rescued. Most of the containers in the ship had sunk and floated away.
