Udupi: Free mega medical checkup camp at Kalathur

Udupi, Aug 5: A mega medical checkup camp was held at Kalatur on the 4th of this month, under the joint aegis of Sri Sathyanarayana Seva Samithi (Regd), Mumbai, Kalathur Kushala Shekar Shetty Charitable trust and Sri Kshetra Dharmastala rural development project (Regd) Kalathur.

The camp was well supported by local associations.  Non resident indian industrialist and president of the trust, Shekar Shetty who spoke after inaugurating the camp, said that people in the villages are hesitating to go the doctors and go only when their medical conditions worsen.  The village people have to travel nearly three to four kilometers to reach for medical assistance.

The camp is being held taking into consideration such hardships, he said.

Dr. Shivananda Prabhu, expert doctor at KMC, Popular bone specialist Dr. Katpadi Ramachandra Kamath, Eye specialist Dr. Sumana Kamath, Chief physician at Yenopoya hospital Dr. Rekha P. Shenoy, Chief of Satyasai seva samithi, Surendra Byndoor and Vinay Kumar were the chief guests.

Manager of Alcargo Logistics, Nakre Surendra Shetty, Zilla Panchayat member Arun Shetty, Padoor Kuthyaru grama panchayat president Praveen Kumar Gurme, Former president of grama panchayat Nithyananda R. Shetty and organizers of the camp Amarnath Shetty Pangala, Karunakar Shetty Padooru, Ranjith Kumar Shetty Kalathur, Naveen Shetty Kalathur and others were present.

Over 1,000 people benefitted by the camp with the cooperation of Rice Mill Friends circle, Kalthur, Payyaru friends, Paiyyaru, Youth committee, Chandranagara, Sri Rama Bhajana Mandira, Padooru, Navodaya self help group, Kalathur and Women’s help group, Kalathur.

Jaycees, Kaup’s former president Shivanna Bayar welcomed the gathering.  Zilla Panchayat member Arun Shetty thanked them.
