Mangalore / Dubai: Feb 1: Cookery is an art, and this art can be developed only if one has love towards it.
Many people think that kitchen is a place for women, but there are plenty of men around who too are attracted towards the art of cooking. Though cookery is a neccessity of life, good cooking can be an inspiration to others.
Lolita Crasta nee Rodrigues, a housewife from Sharjah, has all the required art of cooking. Daughter of renowed Konkani author Victor Rodrigues, she too had nursed an ambition of writing in Konkani. She studied in English medium school, yet her father's love for Konkani literature made her get attracted towards it, if not writing, at least in reading Konkani books.
'It was my long desire to bring out a recipe book of my own. From my tender age, my mother trained me to cook well, which I really enjoyed. Whenever I found something new in recipes, I made it a habit to write down and keep it for future reference. Now after testing so many recipes, I thought of sharng them with our Konkani readers and my father encouraged me to publish the book," she says.
Married to Rony Crasta of Kinnigoli, Lolita has two little kids. "My husband encouraged me a lot to publish this book. Since my father was well aware of publishing procedures, my task was not a difficult one" says Lolita
A number of women take special interest to collect the recipes and make use of them. But a very few dream of bringing out books containing them. Publishing such a book in Konkani may not be a profitable venture, but as a hobby and a book in print will go into the record.
This book consists of about 140 variety recipes. Published in Konkani language (Kannda script), the book is available in Mangalore as well as UAE. It will be soon made available in other countries.
