B'lore: Daily flag hoisting made compulsory in govt offices

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (EP)

Bangalore, Aug 9: The Karnataka government has sent a circular to all gram, taluk and zilla panchayat offices asking them to mandatorily hoist national flag every day starting from the Independence Day on August 15 this year.

The national flag, a symbol of faith, pride and national prestige should be hoisted from all gram panchayat offices, taluk panchayat offices and zilla panchayat offices with respect and dignity, says the circular.

If the flag post exists, the same can be used. If not, it should be built. The flags should be purchased from Khadi bhandars. The people hoisting the flags should be trained by physical education teachers in government schools nearby as to the method adopted to hoist the flags.

H K Patil, minister for rural development and panchayat raj said that strict instructions are issued to gram, taluk and zilla panchayat offices regarding hoisting of flags.
