Mangalore, Aug 18: To inculcate patriotism in the hearts and minds of the students the 14 national integration day was organized at St Aloysius PUC College, Mangalore on Saturday August 17.

The chief guest of the occasion, Dr Judith Pinto vice principal of SAC Degree College said, “in order to understand and have passion for the country one needs to go around the country and to have personal experiences of multiple cultures, traditions, and religions of our county.” 

The principal Fr Elvis Lewis in his address said "how unity and love for the nation can be infused in the young minds of our students is a matter of concern; having organized such programme is one of the steps to achieve that objective.”

Further, it is his tremendous desire that his students cultivate and appreciate the diversity of culture, tradition and religion of the nation.

There were more than 48 batches of both first PU and second PUC students who participated in the patriotic singing competition. Among the I PUC first place was bagged by the 13 batch, second by 26 batch and third place by the ninth batch.

Among second PUC students first place was secured by the 24 batch, second place by 17 batch and third place by fourth batch respectively. The evening college first PUC’s commerce B batch won the first prize and commerce A batch the second prize.

Among the second PUC students first place was secured by commerce students and second place by Arts students.  

The gathering was welcomed by the vice principal of the PUC, Rekha Alva. The vote of thanks was delivered by Nishitha Fernandes who coordinated the programme. Dr Pradeep M was the coordinator of the Evening PUC. More than four thousand students were present and took part actively in the programme. All the staff members were present during the programme to encourage the students.
