Food poisoning in train, over 50 passengers take ill

Kasargod, Aug 18: More than 50 passengers who were travelling by Marusagar Express fell sick after consuming the food in the train on Saturday August 17. The condition of two individuals is said to be critical.

Passengers fell ill before the train reached Mangalore. Treatment was provided to the passengers after stopping the train in the city. Later, a few more people fell ill at around 11 pm when the train reached Kasargod.

Mohammed Kutti from Perindalmanna, Nisar Panoor (25), Saheer (26), Misria from Thirur, Mansoor from Angadipura (27), Ghafoor (42) from Paniyur, Kashimji (37) from Kuttipura, Khadija (45) from Cheelakediya, Nabisa (32), Kunhi Moideen (45), Aboobakar from Mallapuram, Hamza were among those who fell ill.

Those in critical condition have been shifted to general hospital. The train departed from Ajmer on Friday.  After consuming biryani,  egg curry and other eatables, passengers suffered from vomiting and stomach ache. Hence the train was stopped in Kasargod station for a few hours. At late night the train moved to Ernakulum.
