Daijiworld News Network - Udupi/Brahmavar (GA)

Udupi, Feb 6: A jeep on its way from Mangalore to Ganeshwade-Dandeli swerved off the road and entered a house at Sastan near Brahmavar here in the wee hours of Sunday February 5.

After crossing the Sastan bus stand, the driver lost control over the vehicle.  As a result, the jeep went off the road and rammed into one Manoj Kumar's house at the end of the Nanda Complex at Sastan.  As a result the sit-out of the house has been damaged.  Along with this the jeep also damaged an engineering workshop in the same complex.  The total loss has been estimated to be Rs 25,000.

In the meantime, the jeep turned turtle after hitting the house.  With this one Sarita (22) who was travelling in the jeep has been injured and hospitalized.  Five more passengers in the jeep have sustained minor injuries.  But, to everyone's surprise, the driver has escaped unhurt in the accident.

It is quite surprising to note that the vehicle, which was travelling on the left side of the road, rammed into a house, which is 30 metres away on the right side of the same road.  Prior to ramming into the house, the jeep has 'marched' through a trench and two electric poles.

The Kota police have registered a case in this regard.
