Karkala: Rotary organizes heart disease and diabetes check-up camp

Karkala, Aug 20: "Social organizations play a major role in protecting the health of village people.  The efforts of Rotary club which is ahead in this direction are praiseworthy," said Fr Lawrence B. D’ Souza, Parish priest of Belman St Joseph’s church.

He was speaking after inaugurating a free heart disease and diabetes check up camp held under the joint aegis of Rotary club, Belman, Omega Hospital, Mangalore and Mangalore Heartscan Foundation, led by Dr Mukund on Sunday August 18.

The president of the programme, Rotary president Suryakant Shetty, welcomed the gathering.  The administrator of Omega hospital S L Bharadwaj gave an introduction of the services rendered by the hospital.

Chief guest, Rotary regional assistant governor Madhava Suvarna, Specialist Dr Mukund, Dr Santhosh and Church welfare committee vice president Gregory Menezes took part in the proceedings.

Rotary social service director Alwyn Neri Pinto, headmistress Sr Monica, Ravindra Bekal and Sudhamadhava were present.

Teacher B Pundalik Marathe conducted the programme.  Rotary secretary Vignesh Shenoy thanked the gathering.  More than a hundred people took active participation of the camp.
