Bantwal, Feb 7: The district anti-rowdy squad on specific and credible information nabbed three associates of a former underworld don on the evening of Monday Feb 6.

The squad intercepted a blue Maruti 800 car at Farangipet on National Highway 48 which was on its way to the city from B C Road. A search of the vehicle and the three travelers revealed that they possessed a country-made revolver with 2 live rounds, a country-made SBBL gun with a live 12-bore cartridge.

The police arrested Jeevan Pais (33) son of Joseph Pais of Kottar Chowki Mangalore, the owner of the vehicle, Chandra Shekhar Shetty (39) son of Madhava Shetty of Adyar Mangalore and Subhash Rai (32) son of Seenappa Rai of Bappalige Puttur.

All these are criminals as per police records, involved in various criminal acts like assaults, murders in the past.

While Jeevan Pais is involved in the attempt on Yekkur Baba's life in 2000, Chandra Shekhar Shetty is involved in Suresh Rai murder case of 1998 and Subhash is the accused in several assaults in Puttur.

All the three have been arrested and a case registered against them in Bantwal Rural Police Station under the Arms Act. They will be produced before the court after interrogation.
