Asaram Bapu booked for sexual assault on minor

New Delhi, Aug 21, 2013 (IANS): Spiritual leader Asaram Bapu has been booked for sexual assault following a complaint from a minor girl, Delhi Police said Wednesday.

According to police, the minor submitted a written complaint against Asaram Bapu at Kamala Market police station in central Delhi Tuesday evening.

"We registered the complaint, but the girl said the incident occurred in Rajasthan, so the case will be forwarded to Rajasthan," a police officer told IANS.

Asaram Bapu, who has a large following, was earlier in the news after Gujarat Police filed a case of attempted murder against him and two others. He was also accused of illegal land-grabbing in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.

After the Dec 16, 2012 gang-rape of a 23-year-old student in a Delhi bus, Asaram Bapu attracted much attention for his remark that the victim could have escaped rape if she had called her attackers brothers, and pleaded to be let off.

    They are so holy, they are so god-like, miracles are performed, people become followers\dasis after drinking the elixir, barren women bear children (some hindi serials show how they do this) and now-a-days they are caught for illicit affairs\molestation\extorsion\ black mail\even murders and we call them SWAMIs - god's men!!! and rever them, hold them in awe, trust them implicitly and then fall into their trap.
    People should read News\follow news of these con swami's and take care not to fall into their trap.
    Most of them are fake.

    He is also an accused in a land grabbing case of a co. called Jayant Vitamins, 200 acres worth 700 cr!!Interestingly, though Jayant Vitamins did not complain about the matter, a shareholder of the company approached the Ministry with the complaint of mismanagement (of company’s properties) following which it (ministry) transferred the complaint to SFIO in 2010 for investigation!!
