Bangalore, Feb 8: Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy will seek a vote of confidence in the state assembly on Wednesday.
The confidence motion is in consonance with a directive by Governor T N Chaturvedi on January 28.
According to it, Kumaraswamy was asked to prove his majority within eight days of assuming office.
Soon after the two-member JD(S)-BJP coalition government took oath on February 3, Kumaraswamy said he would face the floor test on February 8.
BJP has already issued a whip to its members to vote in favour of the motion.
Strong Position
Going by the strength of the JD(S)-BJP alliance, Kumaraswamy is expected to win the confidence vote.
Though the JD(S) has 58 MLAs in the 224-member Karnataka Assembly, nine have gone along with the rebel leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
With 12 declaring their loyalty to HD Deve Gowda, Kumaraswamy's group has 37 MLAs.
