Bangalore, Feb 8: As reported already, the 'Konkan Talents' event organized by Konkan Samudai of Jayanagar here was a big success, marked by enthusiastic participation by a large number of families.
Three youngsters who excelled at the event have to be commended for their skills.
Seema Fernandes, a final year student of BDS (Dentistry) at the Oxford Dental College in the city, was adjudged 'Miss Konkan Samudai' in the competition.

Daughter of Alfred Fernandes, a former NRI who had workded for ADMA-OPCO, Das Island UAE, and Ivy Fernandes, an MA in Political Science, Seema has singing, dancing, writing short stories, poetry, dramatics and swimming as her main hobbies. Her birthday is on January 21. She was also a national-level handball player.
To a question from Daijiworld about herself, she said she was friendly by nature. However, at times, she would prefer to live in her own space to explore herself and also new dimensions of life. Her motto in life, says Seema, is to live life to the fullest, as every day there is something new in store which she will have invented.
The Miss Konkan Samudai 2006 runner-up is Nisha D Madtha, studying in II PUC, in Christ College, Bangalore. She is a distinction student and is good in debate.

Nisha's hobbies are reading and listening to music, and she is an animal-lover.
Her eldest brother Naveen is an engineer employed with Tasu Consultancy in USA. Another brother, after graduation in Hotel Management, is employed with Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai.
Her father Frank Madtha, former senior Manager in Canara Bank and currently an advocate, is involved in social service and now the president of Konkan Samudai and Vincent de Paul Society, Bangalore. Her mother, Maria Goretti, a former assistant manager in Syndicate Bank, is now a school counsellor and a social worker.
Yet another youngster who impressed a large audience at the Talents event is 10-year-old Leora Sharrynn Saldanha, who won the first prize in the below-12 years group.

She performed the dance " Addkulogo buddkulo" very beautifully. She is the daughter of Lawrence and Ivy Saldanha, and is studying in IV Std in Carmel Convent School, Jayanagar.
Lawrence Saldanha is the secretary of Konkan Samudai, Jayanagar. She is also the recipient of many prizes in other dance competitions including "Shiamak Davars School of Performing Arts" stage show in December 2005.
She is certainly a budding star of the community.
