Kasargod: Cops seize lorry transporting 10 tons of wheat

Kasargod, Aug 30: Vidyanagar police seized a lorry plying towards Mangalore from Kasargod on Thursday evening August 29 allegedly for illegal transport of wheat. 

The wheat weighing ten tons and the lorry were seized by the Vidyanagara police team led by inspector T Subhash.

The vehicle and the wheat have been handed over to the department of food and civil supplies.

The operation was conducted based on reliable information received by Kasargod circle inspector C K Sunil Kumar. 

Though driver Sebastian of Nileshwar said that the wheat was being transported from Kozhikode to a mill in Mangalore and even produced a bill in the name of STI Traders, there was no response from the firm when contacted by police.

Further investigations are on.
