Mumbai, Feb 14: Chandrahas K Shetty was unanimously elected new president of the Indian Hotel and Restaurant Association (AHAR) during the 26th annual meeting of AHAR on Sunday February 12.  The meeting was presided over by Deepender Singh Sachdev, president, AHAR

Chandrahas Shetty hailing from Yermal near Padubidri in Udupi district, showed keen interest in the hotel business at an early age and simultaneously gained good education. Simple in nature, he became a successful hotelier and achieved popularity.  Chandrahas though was working actively for AHAR for many years now, never came to the fore.

For the past 26 years, AHAR has been instrumental in helping with the activities of the hoteliers.

Tulu-Kannadigas in these years have always been in the limelight of the association and with the appointment of Chandrahas Shetty, it has only made the community more proud.

The ebullient Tulu-Kannadigas in the hotel industry have provided employment opportunities to more than 25 lac people in the metropolitan.

AHAR Holds 26 th Annual Meeting

Mumbai: The 26 th Annual Meeting of the Indian Hotel and Restaurant Association (AHAR), was held on Sunday February 12 in the Radha Bai Hall of Buntara Sangha at Kurla here. 

Deepender Singh Sachdev, president, AHAR, presided over the function.

Datta Kadam, founder president, lit the traditional lamp. Present on the dais were A B Shetty, former president, Shivaram J Shetty and Shekar Shetty.

A M Opsavani, senior member to serve in the hotel industry, A K Shokri, Bermu K Poojary, Shekar M Shetty, Nandakumar A Salunke, Shiva Chinnayya shetty, Prabhakar M Shildankar, Sunder A Shetty, Udaya Kodu Shetty, Raghuram S Shetty, Sameet V Kadam, Jayaram Chandu Shetty, Shankar V Shetty and Chintaman B Mali, were honoured on the occasion with flowers, fruits, memento and citation.

Also present on the dais were Girish Salian, joint secretary, Jagadish Shetty, honorary chief secretary, Santhosh Shetty, honorary chief treasurer, Bhaskar Shetty, joint treasurer and zonal vice-president Sudhakar Shetty, Gopal Moily, Vasanth Shetty, Krishna Shetty, Srinivas Shetty, Narayan Alva, Yermal Harish Shetty, Prakash Shetty Kalina, and advisor Sudhakar S Hegde.

Deepender Singh Sachdev, president, AHAR, welcomed the newly elected president Chandrahas K Shetty, on the occasion.

Harish Vasu Shetty and Karishma Shetty compered the programme.
