Mumbai, Sep 8: The feast of Nativity of Mary was celebrated with utmost devotion at St Joseph’s parish, Mira Road (East) here on Sunday September 8 morning.
Fr Rajesh D’Souza led the festal Eucharistic Celebration along with parish priest Fr Dominic Vas OCD and other clergies on the occasion. Thousands of faithful participated in grand procession of Infant Mary’s statue along the street followed by festal Eucharistic Celebration at the parish.
Fr Rajesh in his homily said that feast of Nativity of Mary or traditional called as Monti Fest is the occasion of thanksgiving to the Almighty for the abundance of graces that he has showered on mankind. The family bonding is essential for better relations and it is the time to introspect on one’s life. Infant Mary has given great dignity to girls and women in general, who surrendered to the will of God, said Fr Rajesh. Meanwhile, Fr Rajesh called on the community to respect the women in the society.
Fr Ivan D’Souza OCD Miyar, Fr Michael Moras, Fr Ivo Dias, Fr Agnelo Rebello, Fr Roshan D’Souza, Br John Pinto joined in festal Eucharistic Celebration.
The sponsors of Monti fest Murphy Rebello and family, Kenny D’Souza and family, John Crasta and family were honoured during the festal Eucharistic Celebration.
Joy Paladka read the introduction of the festive Mass. Hilary D’Mello and Dora Castelino read the scriptural reading.
St Joseph’s Konkani Welfare Association – Mira Road president John Crasta, vice president Celine Mendonca, honorary secretary Arun Noronha, treasurer Lawrence Mathias, deputy secretary Diego Rodrigues, assistant secretary Richard Mathias, joint treasurer John Correa, cultural secretary Hilary D’Silva, executive Committee members Sophia D’Sa, Stephen Martis, Maria Goretti, Lydia D’Souza, Francis Mathias and others were present on the occasion.
