Mangalore, Feb 28: At the council meet of the Mangalore City Corporation held here on Monday, the Mayor K Ashraf decided to issue a notice to Fr Muller Hospital and Institutions to apply for a new water connection through the regular distribution line within 15 days.

Addressing a press meet after the MCC Council meet here on Monday, he said the institution will be given 15 days time to provide answers for taking a water connection directly from the 18 MGD main water supply pipeline. It has also warned that failing to reply to the notice would result in disconnection of water supply.

"When we supply water once in two days to six lac citizens of the city it is incorrect to supply water for 24 hours to Fr Muller Charitable Institutions alone," the mayor said.

Water will be supplied on distribution line in a one-and half inch pipe once in two days, he added.

On an average, 1,35,526 litres of water was consumed by FMCI from the 18 MGD pipeline. FMCI has been consuming 18,764 litres of water from a four-inch pipeline and 1.425 litres of water from a 3/4 inch pipeline, on a daily basis, informed executive engineer Suresh Babu.
