Mumbai, Sep 24: Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Maharashtra Division, in collaboration with Karnataka Sanskrit University, Bangalore, Sri Pejawar Math Mumbai branch, Ambika Devi Temple Trust, Vidhyavihara, Narayanamrutha Foundation, Mysore, jointly organized a gworkshop on ‘Mathematics in Indian Astrology (Then-Now)’, on Friday in Pejawar Math, Santa Cruz East.
Vidhyasimhacharya, Chancellor of Sathyadhyana Peeta, Mulund, inaugurated the programme.
“Negligence over our culture is increasing. This not fair. We will be complete human beings only if we save our cultural heritage. Our forefathers without using scientific equipment, used to calculate the developments of astronomy”, said Vidhyasimhacharya.
Dr Nitalapur Krishnamoorthy, professor of Gurunarasimha Sanskrit School, Dr Shrivatsa Vatti, litterateur and researcher of Belooru, Dr Shripadha Bhat, professor, National Sanskrit Vidhya Peeta, Tirupathi, Dr Shivaprasad Tantri, assistant professor, SMSP Sanskrit Vidhyapeeta, Udupi, Asranna, chief priest, Kateel Shri Durgaparameshwari Temple, were the resource persons at the seminar.
Asranna and Dr Tantri, briefed about the importance of astronomy in the daily life of human beings.
Organizer H BbL Rao expressed his views on astronomy.
