Brother-sister acquitted in man's suicide


Gurgaon, Sep 25 (IANS): A court of here Wednesday acquitted a woman and her brother who were booked for abetting a man's suicide.

Additional district and sessions judge J.B. Gupta acquitted Pinky, 28, and her brother Sombir, 30.

They were booked under section 306 and other sections of the Indian Penal Code after the body of Rajesh, 28, was found hanging from a ceiling fan here in a hotel Jan 22, 2010.

Rajesh and Pinky, both alrready married and residents of Paprawat village near Najafgarh in Delhi, were said to be in love.

Pinky's brother Sombir, 30, from a village near Bhiwani district in Haryana was against the relationship.

According to an FIR registered at Civil Lines Police Station, Rajesh booked a room in a hotel here on New Railway Road Jan 21, 2010 and ended his life leaving a suicide note blaming Pinky and Sombir for his taking the extreme step.

As many as 22 of 26 witnesses were examined in court. The duo was acquitted due to lack of evidence.
