Indian-origin officer appointed acting Fiji police chief


Sydney, Sep 26 (IANS): Indian-origin Ravi Narayan has been appointed the acting commissioner of the Fiji police force, reported Fiji Live citing a police department statement Thursday.

According to the report, Minister of Defence Joketani Cokanasiga took the decision Wednesday.

Narayan was the deputy commissioner of the Fiji police.

He took over from Iowane Naivalurua and will head the department till the appointment of a new commissioner of police, officials said.
