Udupi: Maiden musical show by Canute Mathias rocks Shirva

Udupi, Sep 26: It was a memorable evening for Konkani music fans as singer Canute Mathias staged his maiden musical show at his residence 'Florine Place' in Pilar-Shirva here on Wednesday September 25.
In his address Msgr Baptist said "At first I felt that Canute had gone overboard with the arrangements. But on entering the venue I realized his love for Konkani culture and language with the presence of renowned Konkani artistes.
"He has dreamt of something new in the field of Konkani music and may his dreams come true with the grace of God," he said.
Fr Stany Tauro inaugurated the DJ player set, while Fr Alban D’souza inaugurated the mixer. Earlier in the morning, he also blessed Canute's new office near Shirva bus stand.
Fr Valerian Mendonca, chancellor, Udupi diocese, Fr Stany Tauro, dean of Shirva deanery and parish priest of Our Lady of Health Church, Shirva, Fr Louis D’Sa, parish priest, St Francis Xavier’s Church, Mudarangady, Fr Alban D’souza, parish priest Stella Maris Church, Kalmady, Fr Henry Vaz, Fr Augustine, were present on the dais with Canute and Rekha Mathias.
David D’Souza, president, Mudarangady gram panchayat, Ronald Manohar, Elvis Patrao, Mumbai, D’Bhai, Mumbai, Michael D’Souza, were also present.
Fr Valerian Mendonca, Eric Ozario, Henry D’Souza, Kenny Zuzarthe, Adolf Jayathilak, Rajgopal, David and Priya D’Souza, Elvis and Vijaya Patrao, Mumbai, along with Canute and Rekha Mathias unveiled eight music albums which will be released from December 25, 2013 over a period of four months.
Canute Mathias created a historic moment as he collaborated and brought together renowned Konkani artistes like Sangeeth Samrat Henry D’Souza, Mumbai; Eric and Joyce Ozario, Mangalore; Yodling King Melwyn Peris, Mangalore; Melody Star Maxim Periera, Mangalore; Kenny Zuzarthe of Mumbai; Roshan D’Souza, music director, Mangalore; Rajgopal Bhat, lead guitarist all on one stage, that too in his debut show.
The first musical night by Canute Mathias began with a hymn from his new album ‘Namo Namo Maria’. This was follwed by the Konkani hit ‘Mog Tuzo Keithlo Aselo’.
‘Kalzath Ullas Bhotha’ by Sangeeeth Samrat Henry D'Souza was highly appreciated by the audience.
Upcoming artistes in Konkani like Adolf Jayathilak, first Gulf Voice of Mangalore fame Vinay Lewis, Kallianpur, Lavita Lobo, Carol Danthy and Neil Quadros also performed and kept the audience entertained throughout.
Melissa Corda of Pilar-Shirva with Canute sang 'Suryo Budhun'; ‘Caroline’ by Melwyn Peris; ‘Dolly’ by Maxim Pereira; ‘Chandrem Uden Aiello’ by Eric and Joyce Ozario, ‘Rozlin Mojya Mogachen’ by Fr Valerian Mendonca, a new number from his audio album ‘Goa Aile’ by Kenny Zuzarthe, 'Mog Muller Keithy' by Canute himself,were some of the hits sung by the renowned artistes at the maiden show.

Eric Baab felicitated Elvis and Vijaya Patrao, Canute also felicitated Rekha for her support as his wife.
Rajgopal was felicitated by David and Priya D’souza along with Canute and Rekha Mathias, D Bhai of Mumbai was felicitated by Alwyn Danthy.
Alwyn Danthy compered the programme. Canute Mathias welcomed the gathering. Neil Quadros, Pilar entertained the audience with jokes and poetry.
Prior to the musical show, Canute's 'CM Pro Sounds', 'Sweet Tunes' Music Band, Canute’s Music Academy and ‘Comfort’ Rent – A – Car were blessed and inaugurated. Msgr Dr Baptist Menezes, vicar general of Udupi diocese blessed Canute's new ventures.
“Converting a dream into reality is an achievement on its own and this is what Canute Mathias has accomplished,”said Fr Stany Tauro, parish priest of Shirva church.
“Our school has some issues with the school bus which we have been planning to change, but finally Canute came forward and helped us in obtaining two school buses for the institute,” he added.
"With this new venture may the talents of Shirva be recognized and new talent get the best support and encouragement through this music academy," he said.
Chancellor of Udupi diocese Fr Valerian Mendonca inaugurated the ‘Sweet Tunes’ music band.
After inaugurating the band he expressed his joy and said that Canute is not only working for the betterment of Konkani culture but also Konkani music.
“When the new generation rises higher in the field of Konkani may they be humble and achieve more in the same way. May the Sweet Tunes band and its entire team be blessed with God’s grace,” he said.
A fellowship meal was arranged for all the guests.
