Bangalore, Mar 27: The Karnataka Recognised Unaided Schools Managements' Association (KUSMA) has decided to move the Supreme Court against the proposed regulation which allows the state government to take over private schools.
At a state-level meeting on Sunday, the association resolved to approach the apex court against the "harassment caused by the bureaucracy while enforcing the provisions of the Education Act, 1983, detrimental to the growth of unaided schools."
The association will also submit a memorandum to the chief minister opposing the draft rules pertaining to taking over, requisitioning and acquisition of educational institutions.
The association members have threatened to seek affiliation of Central Board of Secondary Education if there is no change in state's stand.
KUSMA is also opposing the circular issued by the commissioner of public instruction in November last year, making it mandatory for managements to register their nursery schools. G S Sharma, president of KUSMA said child care centres and kindergartens do not come under the purview of the Act.
The association has now resolved not to register nursery institutions under the Education Act until the high court ruling. Over 30 KUSMA members have petitioned the high court opposing the government order.
