Mangalore, Mar 27: A skull found hanging in a locked building near city railway station on Sunday March 26 has given rise to several suspicions.

Though only a skull was found hanging from the roof of the Railway Employees Auditorium which is in dilapidated state, the police sources said that it was of a woman. The skull was found near the toilet of the auditorium by some localites who had gone there in the afternoon.

The police also said that the woman might have committed suicide some 5-6 months ago.  The police found long hair of a woman, broken bones and skull.  It is suspected that the body might have been separated from the head after some days.  Dogs and other animals might have eaten the flesh and left the bones in on the floor.

The auditorium had been built for the use of railway workers.  But it was locked some one and a half year ago and no one has entered there ever since.  But there is a small place near the toilet from where a person can gain entry inside.  So it is suspected that the said woman might have gone inside from the same passage and committed suicide.

However, the police are not ignoring the rumours about the woman being murdered and then hanged just to evade any investigation too.

The Pandeshwar police are investigating the case.
